Gilimanuk Bay is a shallow mangrove bay which is a kind of refuge for fish larvae and plankton. Small and rare fish including shrimp fish, catfish, seahorse etc. can be seen here. Because of the tide-changes this bay offers a rich nutrition. That’s why the spotted fish looks very healthy. There is not a lot of coral to be seen here. The soil which consists of black sand, offers a wealth at macro-scale. Because of the tide changes this dive can not always be made.
Menjangan island is located in the West Bali National Park and offers diving opportunities throughout the year. The visibility is generally good. The diversity of Gorgonias is enormous and Menjangan is famous for its calm diving conditions, an abundance of soft corals and its rough walls with large cracks, cliffs and caves. Pemuteran bay has a variety of newly discovered and protected dive spots that extend between walls which are covered with huge fans and soft corals and beautiful coral gardens. Each spot is occupied by an amazing variety of reef fish and “critters”. In addition there is a number of newly created (1995) dive sites. Also great for lovers of "muck-diving". The area around Tulamben offers next to the the spectacular wreck of “The Liberty” a great variety of beach and boat dives like the slope in Kubu, which is covered with beautiful hard corals and barrel sponges, Coral Garden where the Black Tip reef shark can be seen, Tulamben drop off (The Wall), Batu Kelebit and Alamanda. Seraya is a popular dive spot for photographers, not so much the soil is interesting, but more because of the big variety of small species. Here the variation is enormous and there is potential for encounters with Napoleon Wrasse, Bump Head Parrot Fish, White Tip Reef Shark, Giant Groopers, but also with Ghost Pipe Fish, Banded Pipe Fish, Pygmy seahorse, Leaf Scorpion Fish etc.
In Amed we dive with Jukungs (fishermen’s boats) that follow the line of bubbles of the divers. Amed and Jemeluk are marked by some spectacular walls that are covered with hard and soft corals and barrel sponges. Furthermore the environment here offers you Gili Selang, a challenging dive due to the flow, the Japanese wreck (colourful and beautiful) and Bunutan with a huge eel garden as a starting point, followed by a current-dive. Padangbai, Nusa Lembongan, Nusa Penida. The area offers dive sites like Blue Lagoon, a bay with a sandy bottom with soft corals and gorgonia’s , inhabited by sharks, octopus, muray eels, stonefish, nudibranches etc. etc. and Tanjung Sari with species as Catshark, Nurseshark, Wobbegong shark, White Tip Reef Shark and Napoleon Wrasse. Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida offer challenging dive spots where residents of the Open Waters (Pelagics) can be seen as well as Mola Mola, Manta’s and Sharks.
